Looks like Terre Haute South finally named a coach for their boys basketball team.

Are they ever going to go outside the corporation again? He might be great, but I gotta think this job could engender a lot of outside interest from EXPERIENCED, SUCCESSFUL head coaches. Strange...

I think they tried, and just didnt have the teaching vacancy........Ridge missed the ability to put his stuff in during the month and play as much as he wanted.....
I think he was helping cover duties this month, but it would have been different Im sure if he had the title already.

I've noticed that the VCSC has an obvious disdain for going outside the corporation for anything anymore. Nothing wrong with promoting from within, but two of the largest high schools in the state aren't the place to cut your teeth...
Oh well, no skin off my nose. As a Terre Haute South grad, I wish him the best of luck!!!

Take this for what its worth, I head there was an interview with a guy name Kyle Simpson..or Sampson..anywhay he was an assistant at Bloomington South. If im taking a first timer and the guy is a legit candidate at all im taking the guy from the team thats been a fixture in the top 5 for something like the last ten years or more. Just my two cents. Alas, I dont know how things broke down interview and teaching position wise.

north and Southvwhile big, are no longer even close to being at the top in enrollment in the state......South is down to around 1800 I think.
Good Luck to coach Ridge.

North is 18th (2082) and South is 37th (1848). the problem is that the 6 other mic schools are all in the top 12. south has somewhat compensated for this in recent years by softening its schedule some (33rd most difficult) while north is still in the top 20 (16th)

And South gets almost doubled in size by at least 2 of those MIC schools I think. Ben Davis and Warren Central I think? I don't have the numbers in front of me.

I thought Ben Davis was the largest school in Indiana? I heard at one time that they had over 4000 students.

youre right. according to ihsaa they are pushing 5,000 students. previous figures must have been pre-freshmen at ben davis.

WOW!!! Almost 5000 students in one building. Must be something pretty special about that neighborhood to attract that many kids.

"Ridge has been a member of the Terre Haute South faculty since 2005 and a member of the Terre Haute South boys basketball coaching staff in various capacities since 2007"...
Just what THS needed...a Saylor clone!
Doesn't say much for the VCSC administrative hierarchy. Perhaps someone should've reminded them that the two greatest coaches from North (Jim Jones/Princeton) and South (Pat Rady/Cloverdale) BOTH originated OUTSIDE of Vigo County.
