Batesville has been very, very good to the Sycamores, but Ryan is drawing legit interest from numerous Big Ten schools. He is listed as a three star shooting guard prospect by Rivals with interest in Indiana State, Purdue, Butler, Indiana and Miami (Ohio).

Good video of Colt from the IU Recruits vs Batesville scrimmage. Colt is in white wearing #11 and you'll also see some guy that played a couple games for the Sycamores. He wore #5 I think... I dunno, he was okay.

I like what I've seen. He could really thrive in an uptempo offense and looks to be a very solid shooter.

I have seen him play in person, he looks alot like MM, coach should work the Batesville pipeline, Alex Grimsley would be a great fit for 2008... junior All Star another Matt Renn but more athletic:sycamores:

Any updates on this kid? This is a kid that I really want to see ISU land. I'm hearing his teammate is pretty good also.

I have heard Colt Ryan say he really wants to play in the Big Ten, now if this means he would chose a Northwestern over an ISU or Xavier who knows..... How about offering Grimsley to help land Colt Ryan

Talked to my sources and here is what they said about Colt. First off, he isn't getting any looks from any Big 10 schools. Most of his "real" intrest is from Miami (Oh), ISU and UW Green Bay. Those two schools have offered him a scholarship and State hasn't at this point. The staff loves the kid but right now as we all know State is very guard heavy. There is the latest.

I know that Indiana, Purdue, and Xavier were looking at Colt at what point. However, none offered. Xavier has since turned it's attention to other players, and is bascially off the radar. From the limited action i've seen out of him, he'd make a nice pick up for ISU.

So I saw Colt Ryan and Alex Grimsley at the YMCA in Batesville last night, do not know what to read into it but Colt had on a Xavier sweatshirt and shorts and his eyes were glued to the TV with the Xavier game on it. Although at this point I think X has moved on with the visit of Ari Stewart (#9 in 2009) whom they are listed as one of hix top 4 schools with Florida and Ga Tech I think

I have heard Colt has been drawing interest from Ohio U, Miami (OH), Butler, Wisc GB, Wisc Mil, Michigan, and Purdue, but no mention of ISU going after him, seems odd.

There could be a ton of reasons why State isn't getting involved.
1) We have Carter and Printy, both of whom have similar body types and will only be sophomores. Stinson is here and is a junior. Maybe it would be best served to skip adding a SG to the '09 class and get one in the '10 class.
2) He may not fit McKenna's system. As seen with Cole, if kids have went through high school in one scheme, it may not make sense to try and jam a round peg into a square hole.
3) Maybe the coaching staff doesn't think he's good enough? He's getting interest from some nice programs, but his offer list is lacking. I generally use that as the barometer for how good a kid is.

Agree Svo... also I am hearing that this player's list of "interested" schools may differ from the actual schools offering scholarships to him at this point.
For instance. How many scholarships can the Boilers have? Seems like they've over offered.

Guess the Sycamores are still not in this picture?
The Hoosier sleeper
One member of the Indiana Elite One team that doesn't get a lot of attention is Batesville's Colt Ryan. All Ryan does is keep on hitting three-pointers.
The 6-foot-4 Ryan hit a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points in the championship game victory of the Kentucky HoopFest.
Ryan holds offers from Evansville, Miami of Ohio, Ball State, Ohio U., Kent State, Middle Tennessee State and Wisconsin-Green Bay. He is also talking to Wake Forest and Michigan among several other bigger Division I schools.
"With the whole July period, that's what I have been trying to wait for," Ryan said of a major Division I offer. "But we'll see what happens in the next few weeks."
I have watched the Indiana Elite team a bunch this season and saw this group quite a bit last spring and summer and I really like this kid. He's a pure long-range shooter and a gamer.

sounds like Colt is going to Evansville, a good recruit for UE.
From the Bradley board (they know everything over there)

"Rumor: Evansville Lands 3-STAR SG
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing official and not posted anywhere else, but some talk that Colt Ryan, 3-Star shooting guard,
played for Indiana Elite with Matt Roth & Jordan Prosser,
and who is a fine shooter and team leader-type, has committed to Evansville.
Ryan actually had interest from Indiana & Michigan but saw offers fall off as the other bg name guards on the Indiana Elite squad got all the attention and playing time (Ray McCallum, Jordan Hulls, & DJ Byrd)
http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewpr...=66628&sport=2
http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75...=1&nid=3245338
If this is confirmed....this is a very good pickup for UE, this kid is sort-of a clone of Matt Roth but has some PG skills.
His other favorite was Miami (OH) but they appear to have just filled their last scholarship with 4 verbals within the past couple weeks.
Ryan just visited Evansville this past weekend and liked the chance to step in as a freshman and take over for Jason Holzinger.
Junior stats at Batesville, IN HS, 16 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

E-ville got a player. Three games into his senior season he is at 32ppg and i would say in the 5-8 rpg and 4-6 apg.
I heard that he has only verbaled though, not signed on the dotted line. Interesting.

Colt Ryan sets Bulldogs Boys Basketball career and single game scoring records.
Batesville Bulldogs end the regular season on a winning note with a 74-56 win over the Shelbyville Golden Bears on Senior Night at The Dawg Pound.
The night belonged to the Seniors; especially Bulldog McDonalds All-American Colt Ryan. Colt surpassed Michael Menser as the all-time scoring leader in the history of the Batesville Bulldogs Boys Team as well as setting a single game scoring mark by putting up 52 points in the Dawgs win breaking the previous record set by Curt Clawson, who scored 51 points in a game back in 1979.

Yes. He was nominated as was 30 some other kids from Indiana. He is not on the team. No boys player from Indiana made the rosters I believe.

It's all about opportunities DG - would Colt have put up these same numbers with ISU this season? Would you rather have Colt instead of Jake Odum?
Time will eventually tell, but I like what I've seen of Jake in practice and I haven't been impressed with Colt's play during crunch time this season. One example of that would be Colt's play at Arch Madness (2-12 FG, no FT attempts against the Bears)

He's a freshman...Freshman's a freshman...doesn't matter where they play or who they play for...as of right now, the jury is still out but how many freshmen outside of the guys who plan to be playing for money in their "sophomore" campaigns how many freshmen have good games in the clutch? few and far between my friend...

We are not yet at the point where we are selective among a multitude of talented players in our recruiting like a Kentucky or Kansas but we are now in a position where we do have to make some selections. We "may" have missed on a Colt Ryan, but then again, you can't have all of them. Lots of reasons why a young player goes with a cetain program or coach and lots of reasons why a coaching staff does the same. Not all players fit all systems.

Man, anyone wish we got involved? Would have been instrumental for us this year when we needed someone that could knock down an open shot.

Not only that but he can create his own in many different ways....imagine this starting lineup:
Odum
Ryan
Lathan
Bigs.

if anyone saw that game last night you would have seen Colt running around the floor CONSTANTLY, using picks and screens to get open, the guy works TIRELESSLY to get an open look at the basket, he never gives up. I am hopeful we land a guy like that sometime in the future .
