The close losses continue for softball, as they drop both ends of a DH in Des Moines to 2nd place Drake today - losing game one 3-1 and falling from ahead to lose game two 4-3. Game three for Sunday already canceled in Des Moines. First place Creighton comes to town next weekend for a series on Friday/Saturday.
Sycamores fall to 8-17 overall and 2-8 in the MVC. That is 7 consecutive MVC losses and 8 consecutive overall losses. On the season, ISU is 4-12 in one or two run contests - they just can't seem to get over the hump. I looked at their stats this evening - they have lost 13 of their games by a total of 20 runs; seven of their losses have occurred in the other team's final at bat. The optimist would say that means they could just as easily get on a winning streak if they turn some of the close losses around. Seems they are snake bitten right now.
A not very good IUPUI team is scheduled for a DH in Terre Haute on Tuesday - hopefully the weather cooperates and the Sycamores can get it turned around.
