not much luck for ISU tonight, 2-0 in the 7th - WSU leading. Only 3 ISU hits all night. Offense is anemic tonight.

In other games, UNI is up 10-5 on Missouri State in the bottom of the 8th, and Illinois State is beating Creighton 3-2 in the 7th. Both these games help ISU, but it'd sure be nice to see ISU win tonight.

Okay, I got fired up reading the posts and called Cordell. He was relaxing in the hotel with Bayes. The team is headed to the field about 11:30am. I read him the post that should go across the locker room door and he was silent. :wordyo:

Cordell then said "we can beat them, their not that good". He sounded VERY focused. Probably antsy because he is not slated to pitch this weekend. He did say that the weather report is predicting a DOWN POUR to start there in the next hour and they are not sure if they will get the last two games in. That would SUCK! :censored:

It seems the trees got to the shockers today!!! I was in the movie theater watching the new XMen movie when Cathy Burnham texted me saying that Cordell was in the bull pen. We promptly got up and left and watched the rest of the game at home on the computer!

Great win for the boys, now they need to take tomorrows game as well. :wordyo:

I think one of the best moments about the game today was hearing Mike Kennedy say, "You've got to be kidding me," while the Shocks did their best Bad News Bears impression in the 8th inning.

Holy cow, did I! I left the radio feed on after the game, half listening to the postgame. When I heard Cordell's name, I started screaming and jumping up and down (I think the dogs believe I'm certified now). It just doubled how great today really was.

ISU wins 5-3, we'll still be 1.5 games behind CU though as Illinois State choked away game 3 today. Not sure if UNI-MSU are playing, will have to check. (edit) MSU-UNI rained OUT

CU plays MSU next week, then ends the season playing WSU, so there is time for ISU to catch CU. ISU plays Evansville, then ends at Missouri State.

One other thing, 30th win for ISU, most wins of any MVC team.

OK, this is totally off-topic, but I have to ask...

I noticed that Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo where UNI plays has a graveyard out beyond the right field fence. I also noticed that about Sycamore Field when I was there the following week last month. And now you're saying Eck does as well? What are the odds?

Odds? Depends on your mobility trends and which graveyard you prefer for your eternal seating arrangement! Are there any open spots remaining in Woodlawn near the planned "Warn Stadium?" Beer garden/berm/BQ pit? That's my area.

UE & Mizzou St. are gonna require the same focus & effort. We're still "just ISU" in the minds of our MVC foes and have got a great opportunity to show the rest of Mid-America what "just ISU" is all about.

MVC post-season seeding is also a major consideration at this point.
