Who would fit that bill for you? The easy answer is Harry Marshall. So let's take him out. Besides Harry, who has been the most surprising recruit we've had this century? (remember, it's only ten years old!!!).

I'll go with Gabe Moore. He came out of high school relatively unknown, but developed into a solid, four year starter at PG.

What do you think???

Gabe Moore might have been unknown to people in Indiana but he was first team Class AAAA All-Arkansas his junior and senior years at Mills University High School in Little Rock. If he was a surprise it was more because he played in the front court as a high school senior but, from the get-gp. ISU had plans to use him in the back court, preferably at point guard. The coaches liked his tenacity.

We could also go the other way...the "what were they thinking" way.

I was excited about Tyler Cutter (though I'm always excited about recruits). And I'll admit, if he was still with ISU, I wouldn't blink an eye since I'm not as "in the know" as other folks.

But a lot of people on this board criticized him pretty hard especially in the middle and late parts of the season....so when he was released from the program, many folks expressed their approval of his release.

So to me, it would seem that a kid like Tyler Cutter would be a surprising recruit....played very little during his only season and was then released by the staff.

My in the what were they thinking category would be Russ Trudeu(spelling) . The Kid had one of the least productive carreers in the history of ISU . Yet he played out his career on the bench . WHAT WERE THEY THINKING ?

Free tickets to the Louvre? Stock in the "Galleries of Lafayette?" Residuals from " The French Connection?" Increased visibility in the Vatican City & favor w/ the Pope? Genetic "trickle down" of athleticism & late development? Attempt to siphon Purdue fans to the 'Haute?

Your guess is as good as any...:krazy:

Menser was still technically here 10 years ago despite his recruitment being prior, but I got to go with him. I still don't know how he slipped through the bigger program's hands. I saw him in high school and he was a force. If Brody Boyd (kid from Dugger) could get to Iowa, Menser could have played in the Big 10 no doubt.
