Not heard anything about the kid - but Rivals says he's considering Indiana State, I can't imagine we would want another guard 6"1 guard... He would have to walk on? He is that level of player at this point...

This was updated today - so this is new!

Scouting Report:
Star quality: Tyrae Robinson, Jr., G. Indiana State and Valparaiso are recruiting this junior do-everything guard. He can penetrate and finish, as well as knock down the perimeter jumper. "He's a lightning-quick guard with good court savvy, a kid who understand the game," coach Marvin Rea said. "He plays hard all of the time."

Tyrae Robinson, a 6-1 senior, has offers from Indiana State, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and Valpo, and is drawing interest from Ball State, IPFW and Utah State, said Bowman Academy coach Marvin Rea, who calls the left-handed point guard 'lightning quick.''The bottom line is that he's one of the top three guards in the state,' Rea said. 'He's gone up against the top guys and played well. He can shoot and penetrate; you probably won't find a more skilled guard.'

If he's good enough, we could use him. Kelly is a sr next year so we could use another guard the next year. I just wonder if that is accurate about us recruiting him. It could be as a contingent for someone leaving. It could be physical, but I wonder if maybe Martin's heart isn't in it anymore. Doesn't he seem to be playing kind of passively?

I have heard rumors about Martin before, just never had anything solid enough to report. Let me say this much, nothing with him would surprise me. I doubt this is a mistake, multiple sources have cited Indiana State as having either interest or offering him. Not sure that we have money to offer him unless something opens up... He might go the Jake Odum route - preferred walk on?

If he plays anything like that guard for Neb Kerney the other week then I will take him! lol

Aren't all 13 MBB scholies 'locked up' for next seaon?

How are his grades -- would he be competitive for an academic scholie?

No. they are not locked up. I don't know details, but I believe they renew them usually in the fall.

Sure -- each scholie is essentially a 1-yr contract but I believe we're bringing in 3 scholie kids next season to replace Reed, Marshall and Crawford.

So if we get this kid, a current NON-SR scholie kid won't be back OR he walks-on

If this kid had an offer, I'd imagine it would have been non-actionable after Steve McWhorter committed.

Saw him play against Broad Ripple last night. Good player. Quick and good shooter.

If you look at next year's roster, I think we could use another young guard. We'll have a lot of competition for the 3, 4, and 5 spots.

Tyrae Robinson, Bowman Academy: The 6-1 senior point guard is a big-time playmaker. He led his team with 18 points in the 89-72 win over Broad Ripple and is also very active on the defensive end. This team relies a lot in its ability to force turnovers in its full-court press and the lightning-quick Robinson is usually in the middle of the havoc. He has offers from Indiana State, SIU-Edwardsville and Valparaiso.

Still claiming that offer. Little Eddie, is it a legit offer?

I don't think it can be...we're chalk full up for next season. Unless the staff has a magic crystal ball...

My guess is that they're still saying it to make it sound like he has more offers...

I love Robinson's game and would have been a good player for ISU. Most reporters don't update scholarships on the table everytime they talk to a kid so they might just pull that info from past conversations.

Apparently, according to the Ball State message board, Robinson and Bond from Bowman are both going to BSU. They are both good players. I'm glad they are staying in the state.

Sure, but I'd rather see them at Valpo.
