Happy to announce my brother Jacob Sapp will be joining ISU this fall as a preferred walk-on. Will be receiving a Presidential Scholarship (full tuition, room & board) so he won't take up a scholarship down the road either.
He's 6'2", 190 with good potential to fill out and contribute as he matures. Played RB and OLB at North Posey and will probably be an OLB at ISU initially. Was Junior All-State last year after nearly 1100 yds and 7+/carry, but sprained his MCL and missed half the season this year and didn't get any post-season honors.
Bigger and stronger than I was going into ISU as a freshman, but not quite as fast. He'll be a hard worker and I'm confident he'll be able to contribute in the future.
Will be great to have an excuse to be at more games now!

Welcome Jacob! I'm glad you will be here. Your academic record is great. I'm sure you will do whatever it takes to play for the Sycamores.

Here's a highlight tape from the North Posey vs. Heritage Hills game from last year. Heritage Hills is a perennial contender in class 3A. Jacob is #28 and if you want to fast forward to these sections in the clip you can see several plays (all as RB). Cory Little who is walking on this year is the kicker in the video as well.

You must be getting him confused w/ Bobby Orr, the NHL great!:geeza2:
Go back thru your ISU Baseball history book and you'll find the name PAUL QUINZER (RHP) on the '86 NCAA Finals squad. Any idea where he went to school?
Also check the background of former Gibson Southern Coach TOM KOPATICH, who was just a LLer when I graduated from HS.
Where were the Carroll boyz groomed?

Just a pup...:)
By the way, Castle in '69 was NOTHING like it is now...was primarily rural & undeveloped, pre-developer frenzy. We'd never won an IHSAA Baseball Sectional until then...had an all-dirt IF...LF wire fence of 280'...black 440 yd cinder track disected CF - LF.

I like their field. One of the better ones to play at in southern Indiana besides Jasper and Terre Haute North. Isn't it sad that Jasper High School has a better baseball facility than Indiana State has?

That's because Scott Rolen has pumped a fortune into the place. Jasper's JV field is better than most High School varsity fields.

Outside of Bosse Field in E-ville, ROCKPORT formerly had one of the nicest complexes in S. IN. In fact, during the early-70's when E-ville millionaire/huckster Walter Dilbeck organized the "Global Baseball League," Louisville played some of their games in Rockport. The league was short-lived, and I recall one of the teams "impounded" in Mexico City because they didn't pay their hotel bill! After intervention by the U.S. Ambassador, they were released and allowed to return to the U.S.

Their field is really nice at Rockport. I'm assuming that's where South Spencer plays. Their playing surface is like a major league one.

Yes, that's the field. You don't see too many HS's with bleacher seating in the OF, do ya? I think Jim Haaff was coach then.

There used to be a guy during my early 70's era that Supervised the ISU Intramural Office by the name of BOB SNYDER, who was from Rockport and coached their Summer American Legion team w/ Haaff. Snyder was a character...wrote his Master's Thesis during a few noon hour's in the Ballyhoo! I'll never forget when he asked me and another guy to help him move from Married Student Housing...he had maybe 3 shirts and a couple sets of trousers in his closet!
He was Head Baseball Coach @ Wabash Valley JC in Mt. Carmel, IL...while umpiring an IHSAA game between Seymour & Jennings Co., found out that the JC Coach was one of Snyder's Wabash JC disciples!

Rockports field is awesome, the playing surface really is better than a lot of colleges. Pretty neat place to play. (:
