in the pre-meet poll ISU was picked 4th for men, 3rd for women. Hopefully some of the women can step it up a notch given that they lose 10 points w/o Hutson in the meet.
the meet is at Illinois State

"The competition in the 800 could be stiff. Illinois State's Michelle Brunk, the reigning MVC champion at that distance, figures to be in the field. Erica Moore of Indiana State won the event indoors, but the versatile Sycamore may choose other races."

some early results from the meet in BloNo
for the 23rd ranked women:
Erica Moore is comfortably in 1st in the heptathlon and should win easily tomorrow. Kelsey Hanley broke up the SIU monopoly in the women's Hammer Throw, placing 3rd with a pretty impressive 199-09 toss, Felisha Johnson was 8th with a 176-09 toss. (Top 8 score in all events), in the women's javelin throw, Tara Perigo was 4th with a throw of 145-03. ISU did not have any runners in the women's 10k. Seems like the women are stepping up in Kylie's absence, which is sorely needed. Hopefully good results on day 2 as well.
for the men:
Robert Webb is in 9th place in the Decathlon, need him to move into the top 8 on Saturday and score some points. In the men's hammer throw, Brandon Pounds was 4th (186-06) and Lyle Nolcox was 6th in 183-03. Men's javelin throw results have not bee reported yet.
the men's 10,000 is being run as I type, ISU has 4 runners in this event I believe, so will hopefully score some big points!
ISUCC
05-14-2010, 08:36 PM
the men's Javelin has been posted, ISU freshman John Lopp was 7th, throwing 170-03
men's 10k results within a half hour.
Wichita State and SIU are running away from everyone on the men's side, and probably the women's side too.

the meet wraps up today from BloNo, hopefully the men & women can hang on to 3rd place. ISU doesn't have any finalists in the men's or women's 400 or 800, so everyone who made the finals in the other events needs to step it up today. Should be a great day.
Interesting to note that Erica Moore's winning jump in the Heptathlon high jump was higher than Chennelle Martin's winning jump in the open high jump, don't see that happen too often.

Erica Moore is an amazing athlete. As you pointed out, she would have won the high jump with her performance in that event in the heptathlon. And she would have scored in almost every other individual event composing the eight heptathlon disciplines had she been entered. Individually, she is capable of scoring in the 200, 400. 800, both hurdle events, high jump, long jump, javelin, shot put and both relays. And, I'm probably missing a few. What are her bests in the 100 and the discus?

ISU is sooooo lucky she chose to stay close to home, she could have gone to ANY D-I school in the country, yet she chose ISU, hopefully more athletes like Erica will be making the same choice.
