folks, if you haven't been to a cross country meet at ISU, THIS is the year to do it, the pre-national meet on Oct. 16th will feature over 80 of the best men's and women's teams in D-I, and then the NCAA Championship meet on Monday Nov. 22 is the best collegiate meet all year. And this is also the last time ISU will host this meet until 2013, so it's imperative we have an extra large crowd at this meet (like always) to ensure ISU stays in the rotation to host this meet.
so mark your calendars, make up your excuses to miss work or school on November 22nd so you can be at the NCAA meet. Let's show the NCAA and all the D-I universities and fans that ISU knows how to run a cross country meet!
Stay off the course Walschlager, or I'll have to have you escorted off the premises!

I'm thinking of bringing some high school runners from Fishers down to see the event. There is also a home football game on that day at 4:05pm. Should make for an eventful day.

This is the same day as the high school regional meet in Indiana so many high school runners cannot come down to watch due to their own respective meets.

if you can't make the pre-NCAA meet, come to the NCAA championship meet on Nov. 22. Just gotta get the kids out of school that morning.

A number of schools around the state allow kids to get out of school for this event, they go with their team usually - some how coaches pull some strings or the kids just call in sick - hate to ruin that perfect attendance. But it would seem perfect attendance wasn't what it once was.
I think from middle school through high school I missed something like 3 days of school. Didn't like school, heck didn't even do well in school - but I hated to miss.

I guess I'd better start training...or I could commandeer one of the gators and run you down. Tempting.

Anyone know whether Coach McNichols will take a full squad to Mid America Opener in Evansville? If memory serves, he took only a few guys last year.

I didn't miss many days of school but never worried about perfect attendance; THAT crowd seemed to worry about nothing BUT perfect attendance! :D

I'd expect much of the same - they are deep enough that he can afford to use some of the freshman at this meet and still redshirt them following the meet if he decides to do so. Guys like Disher, Vaughn and Padget I would suspect will not be in the lineup for this one.... Although I have been wrong before.

Actually the plan is to have older guys run at Evansville and then sit out at Pride

Their you have it... See I have been wrong before. I was just guessing, I figured they would have them run at Pride in a group and not try to drop anyone or at least that's what I would have had them do... Not that I have any idea what to do as a Cross Country coach, but that's just an IMO...
