By looking at the other threads it looks as though ISU has made quite a few offers. How many scholarships does ISU have and how many have accepted and how many more are there left to offer?

but there were probably some fourth-year juniors who may have decided to hang it up if they thought they weren't going to play much next season, which would open up some more scholarships.

Tom... I think that's a good bet on a few kids who may be farther back in the ranks than they would like. Good kids who are ready to graduate.
Also the ugly side of this discussion is there are always bubble kids who don't know if they will have a spot on the team next season. There was also a kid on full out of state who is now unable to play for medical reasons which frees up a scholly.
The move by Bradley and company was huge. If I'm thinking of it correctly a move from 30 to 43 out of state scholarships is huge. Although roster spots don't change this move is equivalent to 13 more in state scholarships...if it was pure additive funding however instead of "upgrading" in state schollies to out of state it's equivalent to 26 in state or 13 out of state scholarships. That means we would have 9 scholarships open (8 graduates, 1 medical, and most of them out of state) plus kids who graduate and don't return or transfer down. From my count that means we'll have 9 schollies plus approximately 13 (7 at a minimum) Now you’re talking a recruiting class of 16-22 with only 9-10 known open roster spots. That means we may have as many as 6-12 walkons that may not be back (or may return once season starts) I think there is some rule after season starts as far as scout team guys.

With all that said....and as the dust settles...how many scholarships does ISU have? Sorry, it was hard to follow that last thread.

Its hard to say. We have 8 seniors graduated. 1 kid not returning that I know of. A rumor of a kid transferring down and another kid who may or may not return for a fifth year. That's about 10 there most are out of state and schollie kids I think. Some are partials im sure. Then on top of that we have those newly funded out of state scholarships. 13 to be exact but it depends on how those are calculated per the post above. Is it fully funded out of state scholarships or an increase to current in state scholarships? At a minimum it should be at least enough money for 7 new out of state players or 13 instate...or a combo (most likely). Let's call it 10 new and 10 old. I say we have about 20 to hand out...less if its all out of state of course.

Didn't we also still have some spare scholarships that coach had reserved? I thought I remembered reading that at some point last spring.

Looks like we have offers out to 4 OL, 1 TE, 1 RB, 3WR, 3 DE, 2 CB, 2 S, and 1 LB with a rumor of QB transfer and a DT transfer. Also we are circling several others and there may be more kids out there who are under the radar. Sounds like a lot of new recruits. :-)
