Recruiting should continue to get hot and heavy for Coach Miles and staff over the next 11 days. Will be interesting to see how the 2011 recruiting class fills out. Lots of top flight prospects on the board and in play.

I like who we've had commit so far and can't wait to see who else pulls the trigger! Definitely a lot of good prospects on our radar.

Looks like we have 10 verbals, and a kid already on campus with another transfer rummored to be coming (may already be here). That's 12 players... I wonder how many spots are left this year? 6 is my guess. Anyone have another guess????

So far... 2 LB, 4 OT, 4 DE, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 QB, 2 CB, 2 ATH. One Ath looks like a likely WR, The other could play S or WR. Approximately 9 Defense, 10 Offense, 1 either way. 7 IL, 6 IN, 3 OH, 1 MI, 1 KS, 1 GA, 1 TR from Marshall. That's 20 so far with that rummored QB unaccounted for. Wow! What a great class so far...who knows what's still underwraps!!!! Did I miss anything?

Looks pretty good. I've been hearing we may also have some walk-ons, so the numbers can be even higher.

Fall kids recruited out of high school or spring ball kids already at State?

Out of HS school. The QB transfer name I got also ended up at UMass. So unless I was given the wrong name, I'm not sure if we'll have a QB transfer.

Probably solid local Indiana/ Illinois players. Cheap tuition helps a walkon be able to play without a scholarship. Maybe we'll get lucky with an academic scholarship kid.

That makes a 4th WR and a 7th IN recruit for 21 so far! Who would have thought with 8 seniors we'd get a class this deep! I figured we'd have 7 or 8 extra spots open up but not this many.

Well, I'd imagine some of the local kids are probably on partials.

Yea that makes sense having in state kids on partials, but it still blows me away how many roster spots are open. It's gonna be a rough spring for walk ons I bet.

According to the coaches, it's all about depth with this class. They were exposed a little last year (as any team would be) with the loss of the 3 starting LBs. That hit home, and the fact that some positions are going to be hit pretty hard with graduations next year requires more depth at a lot of positions. Trying to get to a consistent 80 or so on some form of scholarship I assume, with walk-ons adding another 10-15. That would be ideal.

I wonder if we'll see some of the oline switch to d-linethis year. Last fall we had at least 18 o linemen out there with more coming in. I'd imagine a handful switching over to D-line makes sense. Also I was thinking about it...we only had 19 players this time last year on signing day. Currently we have 22 verbals and 1 transfer with a few more kids on the fence and under the radar. Not bad for what was expected to be a light recruiting class. Can't wait to see the ink on the papers tomorrow! Football "pre season" is here!
