Erica Moore looked strong in her first nationally-televised appearance as the rabbit in the Women's 800-meters. She ran the first 400 in 57.14 and the 600 in 1:27.53. The race was won by Kenia Sinclair of Jamaica in 1:58.29, the fastest time in the world this year.
Two Americans bettered 2:00: Alysia Montano (1:59.40) finished fourth and Geena Gall (1:59.76) was sixth. Other Americans finishing were Phoebe Wright (2:00.05 -- 7th), Anna Pierce (2:00.19 -- 8th) and Maggie Vessey (2:00.39 -- 9th).
We did not get to see much of the Women's Pole Vault. Kylie Hutson finished in a tie with Carolin Hingst of Germany for fifth in 4.38 (14', 4 1/4"), far short of her personal best. The event was won by Anna Rogowska of Poland in 4.68 (15', 4 1/4"). Svetlana Feofanova of Russia was second in 4.58 and Fabiana Murer of Brazil, who won the event in Rio last week, was third at 4.48. American Lacy Janson, who Kylie defeated twice in Des Moines a few weeks ago, was awarded fourth place on fewer misses at 4.38.

I agree, ISUCC! I almost said that in my initial post but chose not to. All she needed was another 30+secs 200m. (Of course, that's easy for me to say) I do not know how Erica felt when she pulled out but, if she watches film of her performance, she can't help but gain confidence. She looked terrific. Maybe, in light of her recent ankle injury, that is what Coach Clark had in mind when he suggested that she submit application to serve as "the rabbit."

wow, that is a GREAT photo of Erica, she needs to get a copy of that and frame that one!
She'll get under 2:00 in the 800 at some point I'm sure.

Here is a You Tube of the entire race:

At about 550m, I thought she was going to steal it. She looked controlled and had a huge gap on the field. The way she just came to a screeching halt would suggest that she had a bit left in the tank. Looking forward to seeing her break the 2 minute barrier.
