Things still uneasy at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- An investigation into notes including racial slurs that were found in the Ball State's men's basketball office has yielded no results, school officials said Thursday.

In a news release, Ball State spokesman Tony Proudfoot said Gene Burton, the school's director of public safety, had told him that "all available leads in the case have been exhausted without positive results and that the investigation is at an impasse pending the emergence of any new information."

"If we get more information, then we'll follow those leads. But at this point, we've chased all the leads," Proudfoot said Thursday night.

Burton said more than 30 people had been interviewed in connection with the investigation.

    Unbiased Investigation?

How can the BSU Campus Cops oversee this matter w/o bias? Impossible...the truth will be revealed IF Thompson files a civil suit for damages, which the Canning Jar U. leaders are surely sweating over, given the inherent "racist" PR that will likely surround the case.
Things could get dirty if BSU doesn't fork over some $$$.:talktohand:

The simple fact that they hired their own internal police force to handle the investigation tells me all I really need to know -- that they didn't take this as a serious matter at all.

That said, I'm not sure if Thompson files a lawsuit because his whole resignation really blew up in his face asking Whitlock to write a column about the situation and him refusing to do so. It's definitely an odd situaton from front to back, especially the whole reason he apparently broke NCAA rules... that his kids couldn't quit fighting and beating each other up. Sound like quality young men.

You don't think that the Thompson family discussed this matter BEFORE the blowup?

You'd hope, but I'm not so sure. This is possibly why they scrambled to Michael Wilbon after Jason Whitlock turned them down?

    Case Management

If they (Thompsons) desired to escalate the charge(s) of "racism," there are a multitude of resources to utilize rather than sports jounalism.
