What should be Indiana State's official athletic department mascot

The Indian Chief would be great, but I'm sure that wouldn't last long before someone complained.

Also would love to see 'Sycamore Sam' dumped -- who/what is he/she?

Sycamore Sam is OK. I remember the students voted him in when I was still at ISU. The options weren't great. I don't even remember the other ones now, but it really wasn't a contest. It was Sam or something worse.

As a potential replacement, how about a big blue Sycamore leaf?

As for those wanting the chief back, why? I don't think that's the kind of negative attention the university wants or needs. Even Illinois has been getting picked on in recent years for refusing to give up their mascot, Chief Illiniwek. At least they have a somewhat legitimate argument. We have no ground to stand on.

Could be like Stanford and have no mascot. Although I do believe someone from the band always constructs a tree costume and sports it.

Yeah how about a Big Blue Leaf that falls from the rafters of the Hulman Center before every game! How sweet would that be!

Of course he would be strapped in... I didn't mean like drop him from the rafters and hope that he lands on his stem.... lol

I would like to see the return of the Indian Chief. I always thought you had a mascot you were proud to identify with. Some pc people seem to think the use of the American Indian as a mascot was making fun of them. If that is the case and we can't get the chief back for pc reasons, then maybe we can get all the people from Ireland to demand Notre Dame give up their drunken Irishman mascot.
