Welp there it is. Think he could of helped us over the next 3 years compared to a few I won't mention by name, but everyone else here knows who we're talking about. We have a tendency to let dead weight linger.

Also don't think this is at all like Logan... He was 6'3 maybe and a below average athlete..Hell he wasn't even the best player in his own family. He was a nice walk on to have, don't get me wrong...He didn't have upside to offer a scholarship to..Can't think of any scholarship player off that team I would taken him over. Deady played himself into to a scholarship based on this roster...Period...

Btw this isn't bias on my part because I dont have a relationship with the kid and before this year didn't see anything that made me think he deserved a ship . He got an opportunity and proved me and others wrong..Frustrating because we need more high BB IQ guys with some upside, not less...I thought that was a quote from the staff in a Golden article after the season?? We needed to value IQ more.. Well we just let one walk through the door. Better hit a homerun with this one scholarship!

Yes, he wanted to focus on academics. But, he would still be on the team if he was on scholarship. Just a shame. As Southgrad said, he's better than 2 or 3 of the others on the team. High character kid with a good basketball IQ. With he and Claycomb gone, that also shrinks the pool for a good "random" piss test.

Even if we cleared out additional dead weight, I still wouldn't give a scholarship to Deady. I loved his hustle and BB IQ, but he has zero offensive game and with more PT, teams would be able to defend him way too easily. In any event, moot point.

Hope he kicks ass with the degree and puts some money in his pocket with his new found free time.

Lesss be honest - your going to guard him. If you worked a little harder on the defensive side you wouldn’t always be looking so graceful on offense. A little competition would be good for your game.

Yeah, but he's a Terre Haute kid, so many here are going to love him. I sometimes think half our fans would be fine losing every game, so long as the entire roster is made up of local kids.

Ah you figured it out!! It's those damn Wabash Valley kids that have been holding us back all along!

In the past 15 years I can think of one player even close to Terre Haute (R.Smith) who wasn't a valley level player that was on scholarship..Meanwhile I can think of 5 off of the top of my head that were major contributors here..I could care less where they come from honestly..But we have had a far better track record with players within 30 miles of campus. Just a fact..Our best years in recent history we've had at least one kid from the region and 3 of our worst in the last 12+ we didn't have any. But yes by all means lets go get more kids from Texas or Arizona or wherever.

And before anyone thinks I want to trot out the first team from the Pizza hut classic..I think our staff has done a nice job evaluating local talent and steering clear of the ones that couldn't play at this level..The one exception might be this Deady situation..And even then I'm not 100% convinced he's a valley level contributor in the future..Just convinced that we have guys who most certainly are not that are still here.

    Wtf?

I sometimes think if were going to be a perennial below .500 team we might as well be one with local kids... I really have been feening to cheer on a bunch of losers so long as they are local!!

How does hate to lose Deady and well wishes translate to fans not minding losing because the kids are local... I think the majority of people here are pretty sick and tired of losing and couldn’t care less who or what we win with...

Good luck to Deady! I can't fault him for thinking about his long term future. He clearly has a good head on his shoulders and I'm sure made what was a very difficult decision.

I can also relate. The only reason I didn't play D1 basketball was due to my need to focus on my academics. I mean, I'm sure I could have played at least overseas professionally, but sometimes you have to make hard choices.
