Gee --- and to think I always thought Ivy Tech hired a ton of Indiana State Reps and Senators to 'phoney-baloney' jobs to gild their lillies and feather their nests.

Perhaps Ivy Tech should have focused on prepping their students for a legit future, NOT directing a building spree

With 2 yr. graduation rates around 5%, 6 yr. graduation rates at 27% or so and transfer rates running 15-20% someone needs to ask questions.

Agree -- regarding the transfer rates; are they transfers to peer institutions? ITT (before it's demise), to Nashville Auto Diesel or Ohio Tech...? are they transfers to 4-yr schools?

and I get that Ivy Tech has a fair, large number of 'non-traditional' students but their graduation rates are NOT stellar.

The Ivy Tech building boom and all that goes with it was a Mitch Daniels program and things started going backwards soon after he moved out of office to Purdue and some of his appointees to run things got in trouble along the way.

Anyone following the continuing fall-out at St Joseph's? This week, they are selling the HoF plaques BACK to the honoree or family for $20 a plaque...

Bangert: St. Joe's liquidates its Hall of Famers, $20 a pop

"It’s like they had to buy themselves back, in a way,’ says a football star who came to his closed alma mater armed with a $20 bill and a crowbar..."

Good idea to "reconnect" w/ the OFC Alumni. I'm sure that ISU likewise is overwhelmed w/ such "stuff." Only so much wall space & interest...look @ Hulman Center. Last "update?" 90% of the people in HC have NO IDEA who most these people are...

Just bizarre that the leadership let the finances get that out of control.

It says in wiki...that the closure is temporary and the plans are to re-open in a couple of years....

With a Fire Sale in place, that's not going to happen now.

Probably hoping that the Vatican will step in...given the rapid "liquidation" of Catholic Churches in Europe and reconfiguration into mosques, the Pope likely has plenty of "spare change."

Apparently now someone has realized their foul-up...

    http://indianaeconomicdigest.com/mai...rticleID=89714

Given the enrollment at Saint Joseph's; I'd imagine they struggled with keeping costs low enough to be viable without pricing kids out... Surprised they didn't drop their sports down to Div III, pursue membership in the HCAC with the other small, private Indiana colleges... OR pursue a reunification with their former regional campus in Whiting...
