Please please please can we win a few games in a row and get on a bit of a roll. A win in Springfield would flip the narrative on who is going to win the conference this year (yeah i know it is way way early).

We have been Johnson's bitch the past 2 games against MSU, hopefully someone steps up and is able to hold him to numbers under his average. He is going to get his, we just can't let him go off for 20 & 20 like he has against us in the past.

Similar to UNI, Missouri State has not looked nearly as good in conference play as they did in the non-con. MSU hasn't been scoring the ball well in conference play at only 63 points per game. They're only shooting 32% from three and just 40% overall from the field. They're just a shade under 70% from the free throw line. Offensively, at least right now, it's Alize Johnson and a bunch of other dudes. Nobody else on their team averages in double figures. They have a lot of returning names you'll find familiar like Church, Dixon, Kreklow, Rousseau, etc., but it seems that all of those guys are having down years. Nevertheless, MSU makes up for their lack of offensive creativity with solid defense and relentless rebounding.

They're only giving up 60 points per game in their 5 conference games and our out-rebounding their opponents by a margin of 8 per game, many of those coming on the offensive end.

This one may be another close dogfight of a game, but if we're not hitting our shots it could get away from us quickly. They're going to lockdown on us defensively and inevitably going to get some extra chances on the glass, so we're going to have to limit our turnovers and value each possession. It's a road game in conference so I don't have high hopes, but we still have a good chance to compete and possibly come out with a W in this game.

Big thing is if Davis plays. If he is out, man that is a tough hill to climb. If he is healthy and able to play solid minutes, still a tough hill but not nearly as steep.

Hope that flu bug leaves us and we can be as close to full strength as possible.

Agreed. Davis is going to be very important in this game. If Yarbrough from Illinois State can put up 29 on us I'm very nervous to see what Alize Johnson can do. We need Davis healthy, locked in and up to the challenge.

Yarbrough is far more physical INSIDE and a 39% v. 34% shot from the perimeter in conference, which means he's far more difficult to defend in the half-court.

Johnson primary danger is on the OFFENSIVE boards, where he gathers 3.6 of his 13.8 reb/game (Yarbrough only gathers 1.4 ORB/game). Johnson's other major threat is in f/c transition, where he has the ability to end to end after a def. rebound.

I know this won't happen, but I'd be open to Lansing playing both Murphy and Rickman at the same time, and assigning both of them to Johnson. Full-time Double-Team.

    Aces game Wed night:
    http://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=198321

See ASSISTS (0)...Aces let him have near his avg (18ppg), but they took away the PASSING LANES, reducing MSU's ball movement. They also gave him the 3 pt shot, likely knowing that being 21' away from the hoop would impact his offensive rebounding. Yes, he still got his avg there @ 4/gm, but only 2/8 from 3' pt range. Keeping him AWAY from the offensive basket is important. For a 6'9"er like him to only have 2 FT's is a JOB WELL DONE by the UE "D.

I see where the 7'2" New Mexico St. transfer was back @ UE, although only having 2 min of PT. Murphy will have to keep him away from the basket & outside his "comfort zone."

Losing Church to a knee injury hurts the Bear's big time...
