    Spring Game Thoughts

Saw a lot of great things. ISU is a much improved ball club. Overall strength you can see. It was a great day to watch a game. Decent crowd. Absolutely loved the walk with the children and the work the players do with that. It will take time. And patience. But we will win.

Any thoughts on our more glaring weaknesses from last year - o-line, secondary, d-line?

The O-Line definitely grew with Leavitt and Edwards taking over the left side. Walker was hurt yesterday, but 28 impressed me in the defensive backfield. Copeland I think? D-Line is in rough shape to be honest. Had some departures since last season. Don’t be surprised if they try to find a guy or two in the transfer market to plug some holes. Overall, thought the young guys looked good. Morgan will be a stud even though he’s a little guy. Only had 2 RB’s yesterday due to injury. One or more of the incoming guys will need to take some carries. Kilpatrick looked alright. Having Boyle to come in and provide actual competition will be nice.

I was told Adrian Butler quit and I didn’t see Rex Mosely anywhere in the stadium Saturday.

I saw some things I liked. I saw a few dropped passes and a couple jailbreaks on the O-line. I had trouble knowing who was who so it may have been 1 vs 2 or someone out. The RBs looked pretty good. It's hard to make a good judgement without knowing how good one side of the ball is compared to other schools.

After a productive winter and spring. Summer will be another milestone. New recruits added. And fall camp here before we know it. The future is bright. Go Trees. Probably see ya in the fall.

Wish I could watch the film, always hard to watch both sides of the ball and all positions. Overall I think the team is better and going in the right direction. I thought the O-line did better, but needs more time to adjust and pick up the stunts. Our quick passes worked well, but when it wasn't here I thought overall we were quick to bring the ball down and run instead of going through progressions. One nice pass down the middle of the field and a great catch, but a defensive breakdown, hope the defense can over come that as that was a big issue last year. Another long pass to the end zone for a TD, but should have been intercepted. Still looking to see if the offense can establish both a run and pass game. I was impressed before the game when Moss was going through footwork drills with the other linebackers! That is the leadership he will need to bring this year.
