While this is nice, 50k is all it takes to get a practice field named after you?

Meanwhile, 45 minutes down the road at a D-III school:

A big thank you to Jack and Joyce Rentschler. As for the Depaw donation, It has nothing to do with athletics so I don't know what the 45 minutes down the road at a D III school has to do with anything. Congrats to Depaw.

In that case, here's a 5 million dollar donation example at Depauw for their soccer/field hockey stadium...

    Here’s the point.

Two Indiana universities less than an hour away from each other sent out press releases at more or less the same time regarding what they consider to be sizeable donations. Our’s was 50k, which, yes, is a handsome amount and much appreciated.

The small D-III’s was 400 times that. 400.

We’re a D-1 program trying to compete in the best FCS conference in the nation concomitant with a really good, if not the best, mid-major basketball conference. While we’re celebrating practice field sod look at—just as an example—what the Dakota MVFC schools have and will have for their football practice facilities.

We have GOT to start thinking bigger folks. JMO.

I appreciate the donation, but why not put this toward a new stadium? Just feels like we're spinning our wheels by "renovating" a practice field that was just built a few years ago and not kept up.

When I sell my business I was gonna make a 10k donation, but Id be a little embarrassed if this is the reaction to 50k....

niklz62, I appreciate your sarcasm on this, what the fuck let's be grateful for any DONATON!!! I certainly understand we need to think big but let's put things in perspective:

Don't compare any "State Supported" schools, other than Purdue and IU, to schools like the Depaws, Wabash's and Rose Hulmans. All 3 of those schools have deep blue blood wealth that has been developing over many many years...................The biggest thing you need to relize, ISU became a university in 1965, before that, we all know it was a teachess college, it's not like that yeilds a a lot "Blue Blood" $$$$$ from alumnis. Lastly, the Dakota schools are the IU's and Purdues of those 4 states, they will always getg more love and attention from their fans than the other MVCF schools.
