    Iowa Grad Transfer Dominque Dafney

Appears Sycamores are getting another grad transfer from the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dominque Dafney (WR, 6-2, 225). Great size. Appears to have been primarily used for special teams at Iowa. See his Iowa Hawkeye profile, video of him blocking a punt vs Penn State below and good looking high schools stats below. Another receiver to help a high powered offense!

Not to derail this with a basketball topic, but I see Iowa is getting a grad transfer from Valpo for their basketball team. Really don't understand that one.

This article addresses the issues for Iowa basketball. https://dailyiowan.com/2019/03/26/br...-construction/

The Iowa basketball team was very optimistic about 2019 late last year as they were only losing Nicholas Baer and had a deep line up returning. Fast forward to a month after this article, they lost Cook early to the NBA. However, at guard they had Maishe Daily and Isaiah Moss transfer out and their clutch PG Jordan Bohanonon (who played hurt last year) elected to have surgery on his hip. So, they are down their best three guards. The reason Moss and Dailey left is due to playing time...minutes given to Connor McCaffrey (a son of the head caoch) instead of them. Addtionally, McCaffrey is a better baseball player than basketball player which could be an issue at some point as well (picking his better sport).

Due to the optimism in late 2018, they only added 2 recruits in the recruting cycle - the head coach's other son Patrick McCaffery (a forward) and a PG out of NY, Joe Toussaint. Toussaint may have to play immediately, and Patrick McCaffery needs to sit and put on some weight to be effective in the Big10.

That's the reason Iowa bball looked to the grad transfer market for a shooting guard.

With that size and coming from Iowa, you know the kid knows how to block and seal the edge.

Will be interested to see how he is used. That little quick hitter to Caton with him lead blocking could be deadly.

I like it Jason. Actually, reviewing the roster, I see Matae Thomas has put on 30 lbs and is now listed as a TE. Dafney could play TE or a slot as well to create mismatches in coverage or to set the edge. Imagine a passing formation with 4 wide outs and trying to match up to Hendrix, Morgan/Collins, Caton/Jones, with Dafney or Matea Thomas at TE. Speed wins.

The 2019 roster is up. 18 seniors with potentially 11 of them starting. 25 juniors with 6 of them starting. That's an experienced group with some very promising youth.

    18 seniors
    25 juniors
    23 sophomores
    45 freshmen (17 of them RS-FR)

Oh my, it's going to be an interesting year!
