Now we're talking! Anyone know how Dayton is supposed to fare in the A-10 this season?

Good story re: former Dayton/Indiana Pacer great ROGER BROWN:

As far as the Flyers of '19-20, take a look @ their fan forum:

    https://udpride.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33102

From the horse's mouth, Dayton Assistant comments:

    https://www.daytondailynews.com/spor...oZQYJqUoYJdgM/

    One of the best "comments"...

I look for the most impact to come from Jhery Matos. Added strength over the season off, and 23 years old. Mature and savvy.

Then Rodney Chatman is another to watch for with 2 very productive D1 basketball seasons's under his belt. Mature beyond his age with solid stats his Soph year. I think he is more ready to breakout than Cohill.

Third would be Ryan Mikesell. He also will be 23 next season and physically repaired and stronger. Mature and will fill up the stat line.

And last, Ibi Watson is the sleeper. Will be 22 before the A10 starts and freaky athletic.

The operative word here is "mature" for all the above. We are not hanging our hat on scrubbed Freshman. These are players that have serious upside due to their age and experience, and except for Ryan that experience was with other programs.

They will be very good. And UD Arena will be sold out and is a difficult place to win.

Dayton will be (or at least on paper should be) really good this year. Most expect them to battle VCU for the A10 title. This will prove to be a very difficult test for us.

The main reason is their front court. Chase Johnson, a transfer from Florida, was a 4 star recruit out of high school, and has size. They also get a 6’11”, 270 pound Nebraska transfer in Jordy Tshimanga eligible, who was a key role player for Nebraska in 2017-18 before transferring to UD. Until I see Agbo, Kessinger, Williams, etc. get tested and perform I’m going to be nervous about teams with big athletic frontcourts.

If all of their transfers play as well as expected and Obi Toppin becomes a near 20-10 guy he could be, Dayton talent-wise is a top-25 team.

Florida transfer Chase Johnson just granted immediate eligibility. Amazing how Coop couldn’t get this but this kid does. Just shows that the only consistent thing about the NCAA is that it isn’t consistent. This kid left in January and gets to play immediately. Coop leaves before the season starts and has to sit out longer.

Better get your tickets now. Dayton has about 90-95% of the building sold as season tickets last I heard. Not an easy ticket to get.
