would be a great morning to come watch the meet on the NCAA Championship course Saturday! There is PLENTY of time to go to the meet and make the game on time.

The races start at 11am. There are 4 races, unfortunately both Sycamore squads were slotted into the junior varsity races, so our women race at 1215pm, the men at 1250pm.

Hopes for ISU this weekend include having at least 5 men complete the race so we can count in the team standings, if you recall at ND we only had 4 runners finish and couldn't even be counted in the team standings, so just being able to count in the team standings this week will be huge.

For the women, hopes are that Brooke Moore can run and help the team not finish near the bottom in the team standings.

The course is dry and fast, weather looks very nice, hopefully it won't be windy and we'll see fast times.

Don't forget to head out to the LaVern Gibson Cross Country course before the game tomorrow to see the largest meet in the nation. Races start at 11am (EST)

Why doesn't ISU have enough runners? Pretty sad that a school OUR SIZE can't even qualify for a "team score."

The race started with enough guys to score. 1 or 2 dropped out “hurt” so they didn’t get a team score...

They should started more runners and it wouldn’t have been an issuez

Why didn’t they?? Hell if I know - someone else would have to answer that.

I don’t know anything about cross country (and have the physique to prove it). Is it common that teams end up not posting scores due to runner shortages/shortage of finishers?

The Indiana State men and women competed against some tough competition on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course which ended with the men placing 17th and the women 20th in the 8K and 6K White Division races.

Rarely...like SSOM said above, the coach should enter more runners as an "insurance" against this. The big question is WHY doesn't he have enough runners? This is an embarrassment for ISU, who hosts the NCAA Finals and other key season meets @ the Gibson course in Brazil.

well, as you can imagine it was a very disappointing day to be a Sycamore fan. Lots of 80s alums at the meet today. The only bright spot was the fact the men had enough runners finish to count in the team scores this time, so that was good.

The men's team has regressed as the season goes along. We were 17th of 20 in what was, essentially, a JV type race. The only teams we beat (SIU, Xavier, and Western Illinois) are basically no better than mid level high school teams.

We were discussing amongst ourselves how this is probably the lowest ISU distance running has sank in history, it was certainly never this bad during the McNichols era. It's very sad indeed, especially since we have the best cross country course in the nation. Noone knows where the bottom is for ISU distance running, but it's still sinking, so we'll see?

The women unfortunately, are no better. Same for their race, they were 20th of 26 teams, and the teams they did beat (IU - their JV team, Kansas State, Campbell, Oklahoma, SIU, and Western Illinois) are basically glorified high school teams. So not good.

The MVC meet is in 2 weeks up at Valpo, a top 5 finish for either team will be a MAJOR accomplishment. We'll have to look to see the last time both teams finished that low in an MVC meet.

....and then we left and went to the ISU football game, a depressing day indeed!
